About Swike
What is Swike?
Swike offers active experiences with convenience. We organize both self-guided and guided hiking and cycling trips in some of Sweden’s most beautiful areas. We take care of all the practicalities such as accommodation, food and luggage transportation, so you can focus on enjoying nature.
We also offer bike and kayak rentals and guided experiences with nature as the focus.
What types of travel do you offer?
We have three main types of trips:
Self-guided – You hike or bike on your own, but we’ve planned the route, booked accommodation and arranged luggage transportation.
Guided tours – An experienced guide leads the group throughout the trip and shares the history, nature and culture of the area.
Hybrid trips – A combination of self-guided and guided elements, where some days include a guide while the rest of the time you travel on your own.
Can I travel alone, or do I have to be in a group?
You can absolutely travel alone! On our self-guided trips, you are free to cycle or hike at your own pace, but can also choose to travel with others. On guided trips, you are part of a group with other participants.
How big are the groups on the guided tours?
Our groups are usually small, usually between 4-8 people, for a more personalized Experience.
What destinations do you offer travel to?
Our base is in Småland and around Lake Vättern, where we have a strong local network and extensive knowledge of the area. At the same time, we also work all over Sweden when we create trips and experiences together with our partners.

Is Swike a DMC (Destination Management Company)
Swike also works as a DMC and collaborates with tour operators, companies and international partners who want to offer active experiences in Sweden. We help plan and execute trips with a focus on cycling, hiking, kayaking and outdoor activities. Thanks to our local network of accommodation, guides and activity providers, we can create both ready-made packages and tailor-made arrangements for groups and individual travelers. Can Swike help with the whole set-up of a trip or activity?
We can help with all the planning, from activities and guiding to accommodation, transportation and meals. Thanks to our local network, we can create smooth and well-planned experiences where everything comes together.
About bicycle travel
What type of bikes are included in your cycling trips?
Bicycles are not included in our packages. But we offer rental of touring bikes and electric bikes. We also have the opportunity to rent gravel bikes on request.
Can I bring my own bike?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own bike! Let us know in advance so we know!
What happens if I have a puncture or technical problem?
If you rent a bike from us, you will receive a repair kit and a pump, and we will instruct you on how to deal with minor problems. If something major happens, you can contact our on-call service, and we will help you further.
How long are the daily stages of your cycling trips?
It varies depending on the trip. Generally we cycle between 40 and 80 km per day, but we always adapt the routes based on accommodation possibilities and to provide a pleasant and manageable experience.
Do I always cycle in a group?
On self-guided trips, you cycle at your own pace, alone or with your companion. On guided trips, we usually cycle together, but you can sometimes choose to cycle at your own pace.
How are the roads where we cycle?
The surface on our routes is mixed, it is both asphalt, gravel and sometimes even smaller forest roads. All to avoid traffic and gain access to the beautiful nature.
About hiking trips
How long are the walking days?
Depending on the trip, distances vary between 10 and 25 km per day. Read the respective trip for exact details.
Do I need to have experience in hiking?
No, our trips are adapted for both beginners and experienced hikers. Some routes are more challenging than others, but we will help you choose the right level.
What is the terrain on the walks?
It is very mixed but we usually follow marked hiking trails that go along paths, forest and gravel roads. Sometimes there will be elements of major roads where there are no alternatives.
Accommodation and food
What type of accommodation is included?
You will stay in a hotel, guesthouse or B&B with a friendly and personalized atmosphere. All accommodation is carefully selected to suit our trips.
Are all meals included?
Most often, breakfast, packed lunch and dinner are included every day.
Breakfast is always included!
Packed lunches can sometimes be picked from the breakfast buffet, but most often the hotel will send you a baguette, wrap or similar. Bring your own thermos to refill your coffee!
Dinners are often 2-course meals but sometimes, depending on the accommodation’s kitchen, it can be one course or 3 courses.
We focus on local ingredients and locally produced food, often prepared by the residents’ own chefs.
Can I get special food if I have allergies or dietary restrictions?
Yes, we can adapt the food to your needs! Please let us know when booking and we will make sure there are options to suit you.
About experiences
Do you offer guided tours?
We offer guided tours on foot, by bike and by kayak. Our guides have good local knowledge and are happy to share nature, history and stories from the places you visit. Guided tours can be booked for individuals, groups and companies.
How long are the trips?
Tours vary in length between approximately 3 to 6 hours depending on the activity. You can find exact times under each tour description.
Do I need to be fit?
No, but a basic level of fitness is recommended. Activities are classified as “Easy” to “Moderate”. You should feel comfortable being active for several hours.
How many participants are there in each group?
All tours are conducted in small groups, between 4 and 12 people, for a more personalized and safe experience.
What is included in the price?
In addition to the guided tour, a coffee or meal is always included depending on the activity. For example, kayak tours include lunch or a three-course dinner, while hikes and cycling offer classic Swedish fika with coffee, snacks and locally produced apple juice.
Do I need my own equipment?
For hikes, only comfortable clothes and shoes are needed. For bike and kayak tours, equipment (bike or kayak) and all necessary safety equipment are included. More details will be sent out at the time of booking.
What happens if it rains?
We drive in most weather – it’s part of the experience! In the event of extreme weather conditions, the tour may be rescheduled or refunded.
Where do the tours start from?
Most tours start just outside Jönköping or Huskvarna – you will get the exact starting point when you book.
Are the tours child-friendly?
The tours are mainly aimed at adults and older teenagers. Snowshoeing and the hikes are suitable for children over 7 years old.

Activities
Does Swike offer activities for companies and groups?
We organize activities for companies, conferences, groups of friends and families. These can include guided tours on foot, by bike or in a kayak, but also social activities such as pentathlons, nature experiences or half- and full-day programs. Activities are adapted to the size, level and wishes of the group, and we can also help you plan the entire program, including accommodation and food.
Do I need to be experienced to take part in your activities?
Most of our activities are adapted so that both beginners and more experienced participants can take part. We adapt the pace, distance and level of difficulty to the level of the group. If an activity requires specific prior knowledge, this is always indicated in the description.
Luggage transportation & practical info
How does luggage transport work?
You drop off your luggage in the morning, and we transport it to your next accommodation. When you arrive at the end of the day, your luggage will be waiting for you. You only need to carry a light daypack or top up the bag on your bike.
NOTE, on our Gravel Packages, you solve your own bag on the bike!
What should I bring with me?
We will send you a detailed packing list before departure. Generally we recommend:
– Comfortable clothing for hiking or biking
– Light backpack for day trips
– Water bottle and snacks
– Rainwear and sun protection
What happens if I get lost?
Our self-guided trips include digital maps and GPX files via Ride With GPS. If you are still unsure, you can contact our day service.
Booking & Cancellation
How do I book a trip?
You can book easily via our website. If you would like more information or have any questions before booking, you are welcome to contact us by phone, e-mail or fill in our form.
What happens if I need to cancel?
We have our cancellation policy specified under General and Special Conditions. We recommend that you have an insurance policy that includes cancellation cover, which allows you to get your money back in case of illness or other unforeseen events.

Can I change my booking after it has been confirmed?
It depends on how close the departure date is. Contact us and we will help you!
