Quick facts

Day by day

Day 1 – Bicycle check and planning

You will arrive on your own at Fredensborgs Herrgård, where Lena and her team will welcome you. After checking in, you have access to the entire farm and can relax after your trip.

Before the joint dinner, we will gather for a briefing of the upcoming cycling days, go through digital navigation and other important details to prepare you for your adventure.

Day 2 – Highway to Wallby

It’s time to get in the saddle!

On today’s agenda: about 70 km of gravel cycling with about 900 meters in altitude. The route heads west along winding roads, with challenging climbs right from the start, offering breathtaking views of the landscape. Along the way, you will pass several lakes and small villages before stopping to enjoy a packed lunch from the hotel.

At the end of the day, you will arrive at Wallby Säteri where a sauna and a cooling and refreshing dip in the lake await before the joint dinner.

Day 3 – Rock ‘n’ roll ride

After a restful night and a generous breakfast buffet, another great day on the bike awaits. This stage is slightly shorter but just as rewarding with a distance of about 50 km and 600 meters of altitude difference. You continue along dirt roads through the forests of Småland.

Today’s destination is Hultsfred, a town known for the legendary music festival that put Sweden on the international rock map. You will stay at the Hotel Hulingen, owned by one of the festival’s founders. During tonight’s dinner you will hear stories about the golden years of the festival – an evening filled with rock ‘n’ roll vibes!

Day 4 – Gravel race in Astrid Lindgren’s land

Hopefully last night wasn’t too much rock ‘n’ roll, because today offers another unforgettable day in the saddle. About 70 km and 750 meters altitude difference takes you north to Vimmerby – the heart of Astrid Lindgren’s stories.
You will cycle through villages that inspired beloved fairy tales such as Emil in Lönneberga and The Children of Bullerbyn, everywhere with plenty of picturesque places along the way. Take your time, enjoy the scenery and be enchanted by the magic of Småland.

Back at Fredensborgs Herrgård, a well-deserved sauna and perhaps a swim in the lake await before we gather for a farewell dinner.

Day 5 – Are we done already?

The adventure may be coming to an end – or maybe not? If you’re in the mood for more dirt biking, leave your belongings at Fredensborgs Herrgård and head out for one last ride in the stunning surroundings.

We’re happy to recommend additional routes if you’re up for a new challenge!

Details

You’ll pedal out on about 70 km of gravel road with 900 meters of altitude to chew through. The route winds through forests, past lakes and small villages, with views that require a break just to take it all in. You’ll have your lunch with you – perfect to take out in the open. Once there, a sauna awaits, a refreshing dip and a nice dinner in good company.

The next stage offers new gravel roads through Småland forests, about 50 km and 600 meters of altitude. You’ll roll into Hultsfred – the old rock stronghold – where you’ll check in at Hotell Hulingen, a place with festival history in its walls. In the evening there will be dinner and stories from the time when the whole town vibrated with music.

The last day of cycling takes you north towards Vimmerby, on 70 km of gravel and around 750 meters of altitude. It’s like cycling straight into Astrid Lindgren’s fairy tales – Lönneberga, Bullerbyn and other names you recognize whiz past as you roll through landscapes that are equal parts magical and challenging. Back at Fredensborgs Herrgård, the sauna awaits again, perhaps a final dip and a final dinner to round off the adventure.

But hey – if your legs are screaming for more, just stick around. We’re happy to suggest extra rounds in the area. More gravel. More forest. More freedom.
